dumfries & galloway: over 50s group, Dumfries

Our aim is to combat loneliness and isolation.  Enjoy your later years; keep active, both socially and mentally.  Become involved in the local community, interact with others and have the opportunity to form new friendships.

We hold six bi-monthly meetings annually, when we invite speakers to talk on topics of current and particular interest and importance to older people. At the commencement of an Open Meeting there is an update on group business, when members can speak on any issue they wish discussed.

We organise five outings a year and a Christmas dinner.  Our outings are arranged to places that our members suggest and will enjoy and are planned carefully in respect of age related encumbrances.   Because of our members advancing years, we take into consideration travelling distance, physical exertion and interests.   We organise Social Lunches each month, which are an informal get-together for any member who wishes to just come along, with no booking required.
