Sharpe’s is a Grade II listed former working pottery dating from the 1820’s, which originally made cheap household pots known as “yellow ware” and “mocha ware”. The factory later switched to making water closets and wash basins, until its eventual close in 1967, after a working life of 146 years.
Sharpe’s Pottery Heritage and Arts Trust is a registered charity and own the buildings including the museum and one of the pottery’s original C19th Bottle Kilns.
